Took a copy out bush with me. Jeeze its a good mag. The article about dog training was very well written and I made my students read it. It reinforced things I've told them but it seems that they believe it more if someone else tells them. Roll Eyes Big Grin

A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"

Unfortunately all hunting mags get boring after a while. The pics of dead animals start to look the same , the scenery shots look the same , only the names of those involved change...

This may take 20 years to happen - or only 2 years even - but it will happen.

I cant remember the last hunting mag I bought. Usually thumb through them at the supermarket but rarely buy one.

I have a hunting mate that subscribes to most of the local mags . I read his occassionally , but mostley just to keep up with the advertisers.

I did keep a copy of the one that printed a story I submitted but cant even find that now ... Roll Eyes

Spend the subscription cash on hunting trips , I say.

Whoever does the layout for that magazine should be shot. I understand they are trying for a visually exciting look, but I find it very difficult to read. Hard to see where articles start or finish, the background colours change within the same article and fossicking articles out from advertising is a real headache. I tend to flip through the whole thing and my eye doesnt stop anywhere.

It's still better than the Aussie mags. Maybe I'm just getting old but their gun reviews seem more like free ads than ever. The hunting stories can be ho-hum but I resent that the SSAA now wants you to pay extra for them.

BTW, I picked up an English mag yesterday and glanced at an article about selecting a game gun. In regard to O/U selectors, the dude said always choose the Browning type combined with the safety. Having had three of those that all jammed in the middle, I threw down the magazine in disgust and walked out - but am now wondering why he thought they were better.

I hardly ever get around to using the selector, and forget to switch it back when I do, but at least the Beretta type doesn't jam the safety.

Any thoughts?
