Actually I didn;t think they were/are too bad. However it is all I hear out of commentators mouths. "He'll be very dissappointed with the Silver" Or the seven news coverage "A dissappointing end as Ian Thrope fails to secure the Gold" McAvaney used the word dissappointing 4 times in one sentence to describe one guy. And then later wraps up in that gentle voice of his 'Thankfully that's the last we see of him this games, and I think he'll be thankful too". Thanks bruce... Some of the interviews were just as bad. The guy interveiwing Thorpe last night started very sentence with a confrontive or negative "Now you must feel very very awkward to be called the greatest Olympian" Then "Now we all know the problems you had before this...etc." One after the other for 5 minutes. What is this new negative spin bullshit way of reporting? Not that I give a shit about the athletes myself but I thought we saved that sort of crap for interveiwing politicians and convicted pedofiles. Karl.

Karl , this is just the way the "win at all cost " mentality of the media shines through at the olympics or any other major event . The arsewipe reporter doubtlessly would not be able to run to the far side of the room , let alone enter any sort of event as a competitor. And I have to say it , but Aussie commentators are amongst the absolute worst in the world when it comes to being obnoxious. Is it part of the Australian psyche to endure these wankers or is no one bold enough to tell them to pull their heads in ? Those competitors have given their best on the day - even the chick in your rowing team - and to have to endure that type of moronic interview must really be the high point of the event for them . I think it just signifies the fact that no one will stand up and say " that type of interviewing is unacceptable so stop it ". Silent acceptance is taken as majority approval . Untill enough of you make a stand nothing will change .I guess the ball lays squarely in your court...

I heard on the radio this afternoon of the 2004 Olympics "most embarasing moment". It was a 10m high diver who forgot to put his swim cossi on. Slipped off the tracky and whamo; bare-arsed in front of the crowd I wonder if Roy & HG will get hold of that one!

McAvaney must own "7", I'm sure nobody would employ him. I hope.
