Hello,

My friend and I will be traveling from Texas to Christchurch next April for a hunting trip. I understand the requirements for New Zealand.

What do we have to do for transiting through Australia? Just notify the airline? Any forms?

The bigger question is California. We can't disembark with ammo according to the CA Dept of Justice. They did not know the answer for transiting thru LAX with checked ammo.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Eric

I’d avoid LAX if possible. I’ve been through there twice with rifles and it is the worst airport for firearms I’ve been at and that includes Johannesburg.

Didn't think about that; you'd clear customers in LAX which shouldn't be an issue with firearms, it's the crazy ammo laws they have now.

LA customs and process a joke compared to Atlanta for many reasons

Can’t recheck gun have to drag to departure and recheck in oversize what a hassle and they tried to get me to take it through security leaving customs what a total cluster and potential nightmare. Very unimpressed
