Here's an interesting story.They don't mention the size but at 40 lbs it must have been considerably larger than our tiny golden or bald eagles in the USA ! Eeker It's always interesting to see folk tails confirmed.

Watched a doco once on the first people to step foot in NZ. They suggested the same thing. I thought it was funny. The same series showed the first people in North America and in Australia. In NA they had to contend with lion, smilodon,bears, the nasty short faced bear etc. In Aust we had a 7 meter goanna that ate folks, crocs, giant snakes etc. In NZ they had....a bird to watch out for. animal

Yep, not many left now, sometimes run unto them when tahr hunting. Thank god for the 10g/3006 combo rifle. Big Grin
