Our own Sam Walker (I think he is a member here too?) took this photo of a young hunter and his trophy this year.... I really like it... it illustrates the hunters respect for his downed game. A candid private moment, not posed, captured from a distance.

That looks a bit like Shawn, if you squint just right.

That is Shaun and the bull that he shot with my double, at 12 foot. Rather exciting...

I knew that if it was Shaun then it would be your double as well. Congratulate him for us.

I will do. It was a beautiful old bull - one that eluded me on two previous hunts. I am a vengeful bastard!!!

About 500m away we found the skull of a bull that had died of old age. Late season, very remote place.

That is very Cool, good to see he stopped spinng like a top for a bit LoL ! Don't see a lot of respect from non European hunters/hunters that are not from Europe !

He was spinning 2 minutes before and 2 minutes after....

I just assumed that he had temporarily exhausted himself. He's normally just a blur.

I think he actually just needed a minute to apprciate that his first ever shots from a double rifle were at such a big beastie at breath-smelling range ....

Yeah you'd be right, only guided 100's of international hunters over the last 20+ years !

Not a buffalo hunt story but an example of what not to do ...

I hunted chital out of Charters Towers one January. The other hunter in camp had very specific needs for his trophy. I bagged a nice representative on day 3 of a 6 day hunt.
Bruce - the other guy - walked a bazillion miles in january heat , saw literally hundreds of good stags . Comes the last day and the group of us - me tagging along as observer - smooze in on a fantastic stag and his ladies. Bruce is hesitant , but finally takes the shot at 180 metres or so. Great shot , dead right there stag , an absolute cracker . Made mine look like a baby.

We claw our way down the hillside to the stag , and Bruce walks up to it and kicks it ......

About then my opinion of the guy went through the floor . An exceptional animal , days of hard walking and all the stag got was a kick in the ribs as thanks for being there.

Respect ? Whats that ? Even the hunting guide was disgusted , and this client was a repeat customer for him.....

I have seen the same and much worse Muzza. No point dwelling on it though because you wont change people like that and they are a very, very small minority.

Completely agree....that type of hunter disgusts me.....thankfully they are few and far between. I see that behavior once and I never hunt with them again.
