I am looking at doing a self guided hunt with a few guys I work with in 2012 and probably 2013 if it goes well. I was looking at these areas: Clyde, Lawrence, Rakaia, South Opuha, any others that would be good for this sort of deal? I realize I am asking folks to give up their golden fleece. And how late is too late for a couple Alaska/Wyoming cowboys to hunt up there with a helicopter drop off to the hut?

South Opuha probably the pick out of those. But all hold Tahr. ...."At some point in every man's life he should own a Sako rifle and a John Deere tractor....it just doesn't get any better...."

Chams are getting "Thin on the ground" in all the watersheds that you mention. West coast is probably the best bet for two species in one place. ...."At some point in every man's life he should own a Sako rifle and a John Deere tractor....it just doesn't get any better...."

Are you cowboys interested in a swap hunt? I can take you to good west coast public land with good numbers of Chamois and Tahr, either walk in or fly to a hut in 2012 or 13.
