She's 10ft long, 7ft high, 3ft wide. inner walls 2mm steel, middle wall 150mm core-filled and steel reinforced concrete block, outer wall and doors 6mm plate. Surrounding room has steel mesh in ceiling, 20mm inner wall lining, steel outer, 80kg double sided 6mm steel solid door and barred windows. This was police requirement because I had 30+ rifles.

If I had only 29 a wooden cupboard would have been OK?

Had my license renewed last month and received a call from the local police last week.
I must say that they were punctual and polite. They finished their inspection in about 30 minutes, which involved matching the firearms to the permit, then checking it off against their own list. The only problem was when my U/O shotgun was listed as a S/S on their list. I told them that I had advised Registry re this , but they know better than me and to date have not rectified the paperwork. For the time being I suggested that we turn the shotgun on its side and make it a S/S.
The officers then inspected my firearm and powder/ammunition storage. They deemed all to be in order and went on their way. They also believe that this is a waste of police resources, but they go where they are sent.
I received my certificate of compliance today.
All in all I had no problems at all. I had all the firearms out and the paperwork ready when they arrived and that speeded things up.
regards
rob

When they visited my father in law, they were only interested in the firearms on their list. They didn't have the Savage 22LR he had received about 9 months earlier and didn't really want to know about it.
Last I heard (3-4 weeks ago) the inspectors were one block away from me. Don't know when they will be coming my way.....

Fortunately I have heard more good stories than bad.

I rang Weapons Licensing two weeks ago to ask how I register a rifle not listed on my licence. They said, "Just drop us a letter with the details and we'll add at no charge and no penalty!"

I thought 'this is cool', so I sent in details of five that had been given to me over a couple of years from various sources.

Fuuuuuuucccccccckkkkk! I got the are you a terrorist treatment today. Firstly the phone call "Did I have these five in my possession." Yes! 3 hours later the patrol car turns up, "We're from WL and you've got a cache of illegal firearms" They inspected them recorded the serial no's, agreed they were just junk and left them here! Said that they had to check the details because there were so many.

You should have seen their fucken faces when I opened the vault and they saw the other 147 rifles and 9500 rounds of ammo stacked on shelves

All the details they wrote down were exactely what I had put in my letter in the first place, which meant the taxpayers probably paid $500 in wages and expenses to these cunts, to confirm what I had already told them!

Yeh, but BAW, you are a legal, licenced firearm owner who has undergone comprehensive police checks before you were issued with a licence and have justified every purchase you have made to Registry satisfaction. Why the fuck would they believe a word you say?

You are lucky they didn't haul the lot back to the station. They could have if the five firearms weren't registered.

BTW what do you call a "vault"? A shipping container?

I wonder if they pull random house checks on all citizens to see if firearms are present since this would strike me as a better way to find unregistered ones.

Oh they need a warrant to normally invade people's privacy ,I forgot.

Well at least when these people are treating me with less rights than suspected criminals, they are 'nice' and 'polite' about it.

Really makes a difference..

Karl.
