These guys are mad keen fisherman, and just getting into hunting, so we are doing a knowledge swap. In exchange for showing them a bit about hunting, they are going to show us some tricks to catch good fish from the beach.

Their first shots with a rifle and first pigs.

Yep Gryph and Zee, and with 80 odd piglets just been born Im in for a bad year next year. Most of those are on the neighbours. He's got a higher tolerance than me. But once they come through the boundary fence.... Most winters I take out about 60 pigs, concentrating on sows, but I was just too busy this year and am only getting on to it now.

Grant, I think if you listen carefully, you will hear a story about a mutual friend from this site. Hope he doesn't mind the telling. Big Grin
Let me know if you want to head on down and we will work something out.

It looks like I'll be down to New Zealand during the first part of December, (Hint, hint). I have to do two weeks in Spain in November so I don't know if I can spend any extra time in NZ.

Grant's going to be hunting in Turkey then, anyway.

We had a good night last night. Got up to a clearing to find 3 spiker's mucking around on the bush edge. I needed some meat, so borrowed TP's rifle.... Thanks for carrying it for me.... And tried a neck shot at 100 yds. Bang, Flop. TP tells me the TSX projectiles hes using are really hard, and if I havnt drilled it dead centre, it might get up again. We watch it for a bit and it looks good. Start the walk down to it and Bugger me if I dont see it stagger back up and disappear in to the bush!
We get to where it last was and I see a pile of hair on some trees and a big slide down into a gutter. I stalk on down looking for it, then hear TP yell. Hes found it 50 meters in other direction bleeding out. Thank goodness.
We are carrying it home and im commenting on how good James is to drive all that way so I can shoot a deer, when he spots some pigs in the neighbours. I offload deer.... Bit disappointed he wasn't carrying it for me too.... and we crawl up as a really nice boar follows another boar through the boundary fence. A Nice shot from TP at 260 meters and its down.

I love it when a plan comes together. Great job guys.
I hope TP did the decent thing and carried the boar. He looks a big, strong fellow. Haven't had the pleasure of actually meeting him although that should happen soon. He did me a big favour in helping to find some Reloder 26 recently. Make him a top man in my book.

Yep like most of the dedicated hunters here, he'll help a fellow hunter out.

Grant,

TP is a bad influence, I've been shooting with him for about 15 years.

He's got some great mates though. Big Grin

Frank,
After 15 years you should know. Obviously TP's influence hasn't tainted you at all, or at least I've never suspected anything during our several meetings. In my mind you are the complete gentleman but now you have me wondering if you turn feral around the time of the full moon ! I'm checking the lunar calendar before our next meeting !
