I just saw that Christchurch got rocked again by a 6.3 earthquake. They are already saying that some people have major injuries and many buildings are down. Hopefully there is no one killed. Terrible news and, as you've probably heard by now, Frank, it is expected people will have been killed, being at work in the city this time. Hopefully these quakes will be the last for ChCh for a few decades. Best wishes to all AR members affected and condolences to anyone who has lost family or friends. - Paul

I have heard that JeffinNZ is OK - he's from those parts. My son is in Christchurch - he's OK too. He says there's lots of things smashed but his flat is still livable. Regards 303Guy

Terrible news still coming out about the deaths and damages. Good to hear that Hendrick is OK, I met him last time I was there in Aukland. Everyone is having trouble getting through to NZ. Just got a call from my GF - who is a Kiwi - they (her Mum, sister and his current wife) haven't heard from her father since the quake and he was in town at the time so not looking good at this stage. Her Mum was standing in a bank at the time and luckily managed to get under a doorway when it struck. Because he has travelled to Mongoia a lot and has a Mongolina wife who lives with him in NZ, they are thinking the worst as she hasn't heard from him either and the first thing he would do is contact her. Hoping all will be good. .

I am not in Christchurch but was heading there later this week - probably not now... as at last night there was at least 100 fatalities , no doubt that figure will run to many more due to the time of the event.the first quake last year happened at night when nobody was out and about. Not a good time for those involved. ________________________ Old enough to know better

LOL My family is like that. We fight, tease and taunt each other to no end. But if an outsider joins in, well, shame on them... Prayers sent to all those affected. Sure looks like a mess.

All good with my lot, just wish I could get home earlier. We were very lucky again with no major damage and no injuries, but this one was significantly worse than the Sept quake. Our prayers go out to everyone in Canterbury.

Gidday Guys, WHAT A BLOODY MESS!!! We have many dead and it seems everyone knows someone who is dead. Two buses full of people crushed under falling buildings. Two major high rise buildings collapsed and a the tallest building in Chch about to fall. Many many more dead in ones and twos. The Cathedral in the square is in ruins with around 20 dead still inside. It is not good at all. My family is all safe but I don't know if I will still have a job in a couple of weeks as the building is pretty knackered. We are all pretty jumpy about the after shocks making sleep hard. Sue and Josh won't sleep inside and are now in a tent in the back yard. I will sleep inside as my snoring keeps them awake. No sewers are working & we are having to collect rain water as the mains water has gone. Other than that life is rosey Hey my house is ok apart from a heap of liquifaction in the drive way, the family is safe and my firearms haven't been damaged. What more can a man ask for. My heart goes out to those who are not so lucky. Kia Kaha. Happy Hunting Hamish

Very sad . Was there 15 months ago and stayed right in the middle of the disaster zone. Hope there are some miracles for the residents of Christchurch. The hunting imperative was part of every man's soul; some denied or suppressed it, others diverted it into less blatantly violent avenues of expression, wielding clubs on the golf course or racquets on the court, substituting a little white ball for the prey of flesh and blood. We are 350miles south of ChCh so not affected by the shake but like all the concerned, very affected by the loss of life. as of this morning there have been no more rescues over night but more USAR teams on the ground now. Australia was the first team from ofshore to arrive with another due soon and teams also from Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, US and the UK either arrived or expected today. Has been Foriegn nationals among the dead with Japanese, Irish and I believe an Australian victims so far amongst the New Zealanders. Von Gruff.

Unknown to us our son in law (has 11 month old son) was in one of the high rise hotels holding a training course when the quake struck. He was in the restaurant having lunch when the glass roof collapsed around them killing one man. He was one of the lucky ones who got out but with no wallet, no cell phone and all his business gear still up in the training room. Was taken home by strangers until he could get a flight back home to Auckland the next day. Was very traumatic for him. So great to see our Aussie pals have sent over hundreds of police and rescue personnel to help out and of course others around the World have also responded swiftly with rescue teams and equipment. From all accounts this quake was a huge one in terms of damage and will take a long while to put Christchurch back together again. Thanks to all you guys offering your thoughts and support.

Well I guess we still need a little bit of light-hearted rivalry. Having been in the Fire-Service and Search and Rescue in my earlier years it brought a lump to my throat to see on TV just now, the large contingent of Police from Oz just arriving in Christchurch and being sworn in as NZ Police Officers (minus the hardware on the hip). I'm sure they will bring huge comfort to all those out in the residential areas of the city who are camping out from their unlivable houses. There have been some reports of elements of lowlife compounding the misery of those just trying to survive, so good on you mates for helping out.

I do a lot of business with Air New Zealand and talk to different people there a half a dozen times a day. Half of our conversations though are about the earthquake.
