Howdy:
Just having hallucinations mostly.
Hoping to make the trip over in the next two yrs for a couple months of big time hunting and seeing both countries fairly well.

Since I've never been on a big boat ride before. Am wondering if it would be practical to make it one way by water and fly the other.

IF I'd come back by water, couldn't I bring more goodies than by air too?

Along the same subject would be tickets and names to ride with.

Thanks to everyone,
George in CO/US

There certainly are cruise ships in these waters during the year , but I suspect the only way you would catch a direct boat ride down here would be a cargo vessel.

You should approach shipping companies in the US about passengers on those cargo vessels, or at least ask your travel agent.

It isnt something that happens much these days , although many early Australian folk had a free trip to the Colony at the British Governments expense. Not so here ....

Many cargo ships carry passengers. If you're flexible on dates and don't mind amusing yourself for a couple of weeks as there are not a lot of recreational facilities on board.

Here's some information on this:

Yep, there are a few agents about that specialise in these bookings. A Google on 'cargo ship travel' brings quite a few up.
It won't be cheap compared to a discount air fare though.
And the luggage allowance may be a bit more generous, but anything above that will be a freight forwarder job.

Cheers,
Doug

I would not go with less than a 16 foot boat, a 50 horse outboard, and a few hundred MREs.....once there I can recommend a chap who might purchase it.... Wink
