I am not a fly fisherman but the guide should tell you. You are better off buying the flies locally in NZ.

What are you hunting? vGood luck on the trip.

I would suggest you also consider not bringing your waders with you. Buy some here .

We have a problem with didymo or rock snot in our streams in the South Island , caused primarily by overseas anglers bring in thier waders with the spores attached. The best way to slow the spread of this slimy invader is to not bring your wadres with you.

Your guide)outfitter should have advised you of this by now anyway .

Have a great trip.

It will be fall(autumn) fishing, its OK But not great. The big question is where are you going to be?
South Island,or more specifically Otago and Southland,my home patch can be good fishing but you rea
laly do or should get a guide as there is a lot of water between fish down here.
No shortage of venues in either island.
Its cooler wx so mayfly patterns ie Adams CDC emergers and PT and hares ear nymphs . We hunt our fish for the most part so very good poloroids are a must.
Waders are OK its felt soles boots that are a no no. Temps will be 50 -65F and changable.
6wt, wt forward line floating 9-12ft leaders 3 -5x.
Enjoy.
