I think this deserves it's own topic and not mingled in with other nasty stuff.

See ya' mate.

Under the wide and starry sky
Dig the grave and let me lie.
Glad did I live and gladly die,
And I laid me down with a will.

This be the verse you grave for me;
"Here he lies where he longed to be,
Home is the sailor, home from sea,
And the hunter home from the hill."

Thoughts and prayers to his family!

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Wonder how much that other "off the rails" post contributed to this. Reading thru it all is enough to make a person wonder.

Real shame, he seemed like a fine man to me. IF not for health problems I likely would have been over there hunting with him in the past few years.

Best to his family and friends.
Hope one of you more local guys will be kind enough to post his obit on here someplace.

George

For those wishing to help out Matt's family, Phillip over on AHN has set up a trust. Details are below.

Hi guys,

I have been speaking with a few of Matt's mutual friends and we have agreed to start a small trust fund to help with any of the immediate needs of Matts family and towards the expenses of the funeral that has come as a surprise to all of us.

Some of you may be aware that Matt has been doing it tough over the last few months and any support you can show the family will be much appreciated. The account is now active and was previously used for donations towards to setting up of SFP NT that Matt was instrumental in supporting.

Bank: Bendigo Bank
BSB: 633-000
Acc: 114382302
Name: P B Hoare

The account balance is $300 and I will keep a running tally going so everyone can see progress. I'll be handing Milly a cheque with the proceeds later in the week when I get into Armidale.

Please dig deep, anything and everything will help!

Thank you,

Phillip Hoare

Running a hunting company can be terribly stressful at times and when problems go public it only adds to the weight on your shoulders...

Rest in Peace Matt.

Matt was not only one of us, he was a tremendous ambassador for all Australian hunters and never gave up the fight.

My thoughts are with his wife, three kids and his broader family.

Home is the hunter.

Very sad news. Only heard about it this morning.

Shocked, after a year or two of not chatting with Matt, we only just exchanged a message or two in the last few days or week. Just a simple catch up, hoping each other was well, and expressing some sadness on other business happenings in his world and hope things were going better.

While sad I am happy we could at least exchange some simple messages very recently after not talking for some time.

First met Matt online in the early 2000's and first hunted with Matt at Gan Gan in 2004 when Matt was first looking to buy Hunt Australia from Bob Penfold. Bob was still running the place at the time, and Matt invited me up to hunt so he could "try out" the place with a client and hunting. His potential partner Steve was there as well. It was a great and fun hunt. Later Matt bought Hunt Australia.

A few years later I hunted with Matt, Matt being the second client, with us both hunting banteng in the Cobourg Peninsula. Matt's hunting buddy had dropped out, so he invited me to take the spot. He insisted I hunt first and take a banteng, before he tried for one himself. I wanted to do it, exchange each day, but he insisted. Generous.

I had hoped to drop in to Matt's old concession this year in August, and say hello, do some photography etc. But in the end could not get to the NT this year. It would have been great to share a campfire again. I remember some of the days from 2004 as if it was last week still.

I know Matt had heart problems even twelve years ago.

Very sad to hear of Matt's passing. And especially for his wife and family, condolences to them.

I hope Matt is in the 'dream time' of the buffalo hunting world at this moment.

(To use that Aboriginal term.)

Shocked and saddened to hear this. Too young.

I enjoyed talking buffalo with Matt, and he gave me one of his spare hunting spears.

In the dreaming places where the ancestors live, you'll find all the best barramundi, buliki, nganabarru, biggy-biggy, sugar bag, fresh water, turkey... everything. Anybody can go there, one day, if Arnhemland is in your blood and heart. Take care, Matt.

I'm shocked and saddened to hear this. Though I never met Matt, he did offer to help me in regard to my thought of taking a gun in case I found somewhere to go for a shot on my recent trip to the NT.

What age would he have been?

Hey, that looks like the HS Precision stock I sold Matt.

He was a great bloke to deal with and talk with. Wish I had hunted with him.

He had a wealth of knowledge and was passionate about hunting and the rights of firearms owners.

It is with a heavy heart that yet again this week I have to announce the passing of another fellow shooter and hunter and a very close mate.

Matt Graham passed away after a massive heart attack overnight on the 18th September 2016, he will be dearly missed by Family, friends and
shooters across the Country as well as in many Countries all over the World.

The news of his passing this morning has been a shock to everyone who knew him.

Matt spent most of his adult life taking the fight for shooters rights as far as one person possibly could
He was the Vice President of Australian Hunting Net Incorporated, The Hunting club side of AHN, and was of course instrumental in its creation.
He was very heavily involved with The Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party in NSW and the NT. His knowledge of all things to do with shooting, hunting
and the NSW Firearms Act and Regulations will be a great loss to our community.

On behalf of AHN and AHNi, I sadly pass on our sympathy and condolences to Matt's Wife Millie, his kids
and all his Family and friends.

Details of funeral arrangements will be posted as soon as they are available for those who want to pay their respects.

RIP Matt, and thanks for all you have done for Australian shooters and hunters.

Matt Graham doing what he loved doing, being out in the bush

Anyway it matters not, because my experience always has been that of---- a loss of snot and enamel on both sides of the 458 Win----
