Despite the banner at the top of the page , the 11th day of the 11th month is Armistace Day , the day the guns stopped in the Great War . 1914 - 18 , although some combatants were late getting into that scuffle , and set a trend for the next big punch-up as well , but we wont dwell on that .

Here we have celebrated by uplifting one of the many unknown Kiwi soldiers from a graveyard in France and transported his remains to our main War memorial in Wellington , to eternally be laid to rest as the Unknown Soldier to symbolise all those who fought and died for NZ

Personally I think Armistice Day should be up there with Anzac day as a national holiday , or at least the pubs should sell cheap beer for the day , or petrol should come down in price .I doubt that our school kids have any idea what its about tho...

What do youse poor relations on the Western side of the Tasman do for Armistace Day ? ( or even those who call it Veterans day too ...)
