A mate just sent me this. Sambar in the ACT

------------------------------
A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"

According to legendary author Arthur Bentley Sambar were observed 60 miles from Canberra in the 70`s iirc. They are now way north of there and have been for a long time. One was darted in Melbourne last week also.

I'm located Mid North Coast NSW and a forestry worker has told me he saw one in a state forest west of here.

Old mate of mine sent me this one that he shot up the back of the lake at Laurieton Jan 10 2008. He said to me that "its the biggest Rusa I have ever seen,I couldn't believe how big it was"

Its a hybrid I`ll bet.

All sorts in the Hunter Valley now. Have seen three or for dead Sambar on the Hunter Expressway. Last year two dead hinds were lying about 300m apart on the wide median for ages.

See stacks of Fallow around Mudgee.

Had a sambar run across a football oval while a game was on , somewhere around Whittlesea
There every where now, saw 20 last week just before dark, next day saw 6 or 7 missed the stag , and the following evening saw two, shot the hind.
