Righto guys (and girls if Sam and Ann are out there)

Anybody using OME (ARB product)or TJM's shocks and springs? I want to upgrade the Navara. TJM's come in about $200 under ARB but I don't know enough about suspension to seperate them.

Your thoughts?

dunno bout the tjm stuff, but if you are dooing lots of highway and little or nil off road the ome shocks can wear out quickly, so i been told Confused
had a set in the old hilux and no dramas.
what are you dooing? giving it a lift? or just stiffing up the fronts? the navara is known to be a bit soft in the front and stiff in the rear.

OME springs are good stuff but spend the money and get Koni adjustable shocks. These are rebuildable and well worth the money.

Cheers.

I had two landcruizers fitted with full ARB-oldmanEmu kits. First was 75 series ute leafspring set up. didnt take it hard core driving, articulation was far superior to factory setup.Never encountered a problem.
HOWEVER!!,
I had my 80 series fitted full ARB kit as well as a host of other goodies(turbo, intercooler LRtanks, airlocker,Kaymar rear bar& wheel carrier, etc), from them, and trouble with alot of it,including the turbo setup.
This truck was rigged to do some travel up the topend.
When I got to the corregated roads(TelegraphRd) of CapeYork, the ARB rear shocks failed,(before the Jardine river crosssing),lucky I got that far, cause the Turbo was causing big problems long before that,(had to argue to get that fixed in Townsville). Anyway the shocks heated up,seized, and cause they lost their movement, ripped out of the chassis mounts, mangled by fuel lines and destroyed my solenoid switch that controlled the two fuel tanks.
The shocks ripped out also due to the cheap crap washers they used. Luckily I had brought along some spare some high tensile washers,so I did some roadside bandaid work, limped into Bamaga, and found the ARB rep Wonderfull!...well er NO!, he was not interested in the problem, and suggested I use the public phone up the road to call ARB(Sydney) to help me.
After along story, ARB was not interested in helping much until I made it back to Cairns to "look" at the vehicle.
and it was not until I got back to Sydney that I had to argue with then to replace the shocks and cost of repairs to my vehicle.
So much for their national product support for people who go offroad in remote places. Roll Eyes
One way they offered to fix the problem was to sell me upgrade shocks (much above the price of the ones I bought)that had a separate oil resevoir. Real nice business ethics, thumbdown plus they could still not assure me of there reliability.
Seems they like to gamble with the customers time&money.
The rear coils they sold & fitted me where no where near sufficient in rating(the way THEY recommended I fit it out for the use I had In mind). They were going to sell me some other coils aswell Wink
Just to add, I ordered a custom front bullbar, when they fitted it, it touched the body work, and once again instead of getting another bar made right, they wanted to fix the problem they created by wanting to charge me for a body lift kit& fitting charge.
On the way down from CapeYork,I noticed the Kaymar rear step/towbar and wheel carrier setup had stress cracks on the radii where the blinker unit fitted in.
Bear in mind this was an all new fitout to a new truck,no towing, and a single guy travelling light,ie;300ltrs of diesel&water in the tanks+ about 100kg of gear on top of that and it all happened before 10,000km,8k of that being Hway work.
Expert wanker salesmen at the counter is their speciality.

I've come to the conclusion that suspension doesn't matter much.
For instance I looked under my Jackeroo's front end to see what sort of springs it had. Zero, nada, zilch. Couldn't see a leaf or coil spring anywhere. Still, it drives well. Roll Eyes

Maybe, but I can't see anything that could go up and down. I know it's got a tow-bar. Wink
