Hi all - I know Mr Passmore personally. Despite that I can recommend his writing. His story Pyke River Roar is probably the best hunting story I've ever read.

He's not paying me to write this either. Tight bastard. I'm just hoping this will encourage him to give me back my stuff that he's 'borrowed'.

You've been wanting that stuff back for ages Oscar. Give it up as gone. PS, I still have your book, I'll send it straight to Mr pass more if you want.

First the forums did away with my desire to buy hunting magazines, and now this blog cancels any need to buy a hunting book. It could be the death of the publication of a literary genre!

You cant get the whole book deal with an e-reader or reading a computer screen. You dont get the feel of the paper , the smell of the ink , the joy of reading to the end of the chapter because you just cant put it down...

I have an e-reader but I vastly prefer the printed version. And after a while all those modern hunting stories are the same . The names of the participants change but there is only so much country to hunt in NZ and only so many ways to kill your quarry.....

There's not many of authors around capable of this though H, maybe the two in this thread and one other.
Most others seem to focus on ''I went here, I shot this.'' While I enjoy a good hunting yarn, I can get that from many sources. This writing is something different.

Oscar you're killing me!! rotflmo And you are not the only one I have heard call CH a tight bastard either! Smiler

That said, I have spent some time reading on his blog and have to say that I have found it very entertaining. He does have a way with words, and his approach to hunting is certainly very different from most writers... Sure won't find that quality of writing in the American gun rags!

The worst bit is when I see/read about some of MY stuff in HIS stories .....

If I have my internet personalities right, that's you in a story or two, zeeriverrat1?

Anyhoo - I understand the site is currently experiencing some 'technical difficulties', but hopefully will be back soon.
