myself, muzza and another good friend of ours derryn went out for our last fallow hunt for the year last saturday afternoon on my familys farm.i have just started bow hunting and wanted to try and smack a young spiker over.muzza was originally just going to bring himself but told him he should chuck in the suppressed 44mag and derryn was armed with the video camera.we met up with my cousin daniel and his better half rosie and headed up the river at about 4.30 pm.it only takes about 15 mins to get to the hunting ground by bike.we stopped about 400 metres from the clearing and started to get ready.then 4 deer appeared above us at about 50-60 metres.they must have been grasing in a little gut they non of us even thought about looking in before we continued up the track.anyway they were to far away for the bow and they didn't really stick around anyway.we headed up the track and arrived at the clearing but she was bare.my 2 year old weimaraner is probably to thank for that as he practically dragged rosie the whole way and his consistant hard breathing from the chocker would have been heard.anyway walk past the clearing and headed along the track and i saw a turkey just to my left and only about 5 metres away.out came the camera and up came the bow but the cobbler deciced to start walking at no great rate of knots but enough to put me in 2 minds about firing so i didn't.we headed up another 50 metres and 3 piglets ran out along the the track and derryn got some video.we don't shoot pigs as that is daniels disicpline.had a break for about 3/4 of an hour and then headed back to the clearing.daniel spotted 2 deer in the middle of clearing and called me up but they were 70 metres away and to open to try a stealth approach.muzza had them covered from the side and so after derryn and i decided that i wasn't going to get a shot we told muzza to take the shot.with a thud the spiker was down with a well placed shot in the engine room.after a few photos we cleaned him out and headed back to the bikes.we saw some goats and i decied to have a lash.muzz dropped a nannie and then a good size billy walked out and i fired.with what i thought was a good hit the animal ran off.muzz and rosie went back to get the bikes while myself derryn and daniel went looking for the billy.there was a little bit a blood on the arrow and no blood in the direction the goat went.we search for 20 mins and even the dog couldn't find anything.derryn told me the next day after watching the video that i had gone over the billys back and hit the nanny that muzz had already shot!!!! muzz and rosie came back and said that they had seen 3 more deer out in the paddock so we loaded up and headed out.myself and derryn stalked about 400 metres just below them and when we came up they were about 30 metres in front of use.i bought the bow up aimed and fired but was to the right by a foot.they ran off and stop 50 metres up the hill so i thought why not and fired again.the aim was good but 3 feet to low.i was a bit pissed that i missed the first shoot but that life and they will be there next time.i'm hoping that muzza will post some photos has he is more clever than me.happy new year to all and way it bring you plenty of meat for the freezer

Here you go Jimmy - a brag pic. If you are interested - the 44 Magnum is fully suppressed , fires a 240 grain Hornady XTP at about 1050 fps and the whop as the bullet hits is much louder than the sound signiture of the rifle firing. We recovered the projectile and it weighed 236.5 grains after penetrating the front shoulder of the deer - which dropped on the spot and barely kicked. ________________________ Old enough to know better

What rifle is that? Looks like a stainless Handi-rifle maybe? Hard to tell from the pic.
