Barrel length is 16 or 18 inches I think?????

As to calibre restrictions the only ones I know of are a min of .270/130gr pill for Sambar and .243 for Hogg?? Is that right all you Mexicans out there? Oh and steel shot for water fowl on public land in the NT.

Now as an aside......evertime I see your name I get the Heart song "Barracuda" going through my head dancing clap

In Queensland it's not the barrel length,it's the overall length that matters....friends cut their shotgun barrels to 16",no problems. Not sure on overall length off hand, maybe 600mm/24"??

For Sambar in Victoria, min calibre is .270,min case length is 51mm(.308 case). So in theory a .270/08 is the min calibre.

HTH a little.

16" barrel is the minimum for rifles in SA.
Bought a factory stock Win94 Trapper 357mag over the counter with a 16" tube no worries.
There are some OAL restrictions also I reckon.

Best to do a google on the gun laws for the different Australian states to find the specific details of each state now that we have uniform gun laws... Roll Eyes

I think there may be issues with having a seperate pistol grip or a folding stock on rifles and shotguns also as we all know guns are far more dangerous with those on..... Roll Eyes

No calibre restrictions on anything in SA except waterfowl, steel shot only on public hunting reserves. 12ga maximum.
Also, minimum striking energy for "legal" shooting of kangaroos is 1000ft/lbs but I think but you need a special permit and/or tags to shoot roos apparently.... Roll Eyes

In Queensland there in no minimum barrel length its an over all length of more than 750mm thats important. No minimum cal in QLD unless shooting roos (.224) which can only done under permit anyway.I have a shotgun with 12 inch barrels and extended stock to make the OAL requirements.
