Saw a very nice 1941 Lithgow SMLE Mk. III at a a gun show today here in Oregon. Haven't seen such a lovely example in years. Didn't quite have the jack to buy it.

Most of my rugby mates work at the small arms factory in Lithgow (wife comes from there). They have a very good museum at the front gates if your ever in the area Bill.

A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"

Bakes, I noticed that Lithgow is still in business. I was surprised.
Sambarman, I am embarrassed to say I didn't quite have the $425 US they were asking. No fun being gun-poor.

Bakes, wonder if they are making those actions for Springfield Armory. Had no idea. We shoot a lot of great Australian powders here, of course.

They may have been Bill. They tried to have a go at making a lever action shot gun but I believe the cast actions were bending, so they had to make them fatter and machine down to size. I don't think it worked out as a cost effective method.
