We are going to head to Tasmania for the Christmas holidays this year and want to get a bit of fishing in, both on and odd shore. We are looking for fully outfitted day trips. Any suggestions in and around Bruny Island, Hobart and the like?

None re fishing but there will be plenty I`m sure that are to be found. Make sure you go to Mona a museum with a real difference. Its in Hobart the stepping stone to Bruny Is and is really worth a look. Posts: 87 | Location: Victoria Australia | Registered: 07 September 2002

Boxhead, I have fished on the Doongara which is out of Pirates Bay on the Tasman Penninsula Christmas may be a bit early down there for Blue/yellow fin the continental shelf is only 15 k's out and there would be good stripey trumpeter and other species. Saying that St Helens is further north the warmer currents hit there earlier therefore more pelagic species including sailfish and marlin, the continental shelf is at its closest point there than all of Australia. The guy at St Helens name is Rocky Carosi, he has been there for a decade or more and is very experienced, for my money I reckon he would be the best option for you. Enjoy Tassie mate.
