Forgot to mention my friend shooting the Taipans at 2750fps had one fail to exit a roo

The Bertrams are also not bonded, I bought some in 50 cal but it will be 6 months before the gun is ready
If anyone in Aus wants to try a couple I will send them

Thanks for the replies.

Seems whilst the consensus is they are a soft bullet for big game, some members above have come across harder examples.I know someone who went off them after poor expansion on roos with a 270win, however not max loads, along with what geekay was saying.

I can only put my own experience down to a shit quality batch.

By the way 416, what price is Bruce charging

for the 50 bullets, and what cartridge are you getting?

I have been hounding him about 585 but no luck yet.

Karl.

Karl,
About 12 weeks ago Bruce was asking $50 per 50 or $90 per 100 for .458 caliber projectiles. He seemed to be asking the same price for all his stuff. I was going to pick some up to try but never got around to it.
Cheers...

I can't remember exact price but it was about $50 or a bit less, at nearly the same price as Woodleighs I would buy Woodleighs. When I bought them Bruce said they were not bonded like the Woodleighs.
The cartridge is 50-110 in a lever action so vel will be low, was hoping to get 2230fps with 525grns. There is a guy on this site KEV who is claiming to get 2250fps with 525grn cast bullet. The Woodleighs and Bertrams will be to long to cycle so will be single feed only.

Karl,
The owner of Ten Ring projectiles (cast projectiles) is a pretty amiable sort of a bloke. Try him for a moly coated hardcast .585 projectile. I think if your prepared to share tool up costs then you may get a projectile that suits you very well.

Bwana Bob,

I ahve had the same problem with my .416 Rigby and the Taipans so I seat them deeper and do not get tha dvantage of the cannelure. But I think there are some company's that make a cannelure cutter and maybe it is worth buying one ??

I found in my 6mm they were not as accurate as the Noslers .etc
In the 416 they are good on roos but would not use them on sambar.
Taipans are not a bonded bullet.
