I rang Nioa today to inquire about parts for that Anschutz .222. Conversation went something like this-

"G'day mate, I'm just inquiring about parts for an Anschutz .222"

"Sorry we don't sell to the general public"

"Well can you at least tell me if you have parts or barrels"

"I don't think they make a .222 anymore, you'll have to go through your gun dealer."

Nice bastards! I went to Tex's gun shop and he got on the phone and in 2 minutes they found the parts list for that model and were emailing it to him bewildered Now why couldn't they just email me the parts list?

And they have this little gem on their web site under "contact us" - If you have any questions, please contact us by one of the following methods:

Very helpful bloke.

A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"

Bakes,
They push everything through the dealers. I'll email them about RCBS 358STA dies and see what they come back with, but it'll probably be: "Yes we can get them, enquire via your local dealer."

Now how do you tell them politely the local dealer is an A-hole whom I wouldn't spend a cent with?
Cheers...

Don't bother to try your luck with Highland either. Don't you fellas know the Aussie customer is just a damn nuisance to the running of their business. Frowner

Yep. Dealing with Nioa's has definately become a chore since Bill passed on.
The current bunch are very 'Basil Fawlty-ish' when it comes to dealing with those damn pesky customers.
Fuck 'em. I'll just go somewhere else and spend my money...

Cheers, Dave.

I'm a dealer but new to the trade . Emailed Highland almost a week ago but no reply yet . Maybe they have all the customers they need .

The hunting imperative was part of every man's soul; some denied or suppressed it, others diverted it into less blatantly violent avenues of expression, wielding clubs on the golf course or racquets on the court, substituting a little white ball for the prey of flesh and blood.

You need to ring as I have found they don't answer emails. It will come down to the local rep for your area (seems to have a big impact on level of service) or that certainly is the case here.

Ho hum, nothing new here. Aussie wholesalers/importers are no different to those of 40 years ago and I'm sure they were no different from their predecesors. Self deification possibly.

I rang them and a similar thing happened.
I actually rang to get their book/part number on a particular item so I could quote it to the dealer so Igot the correct thing delivered.
I started the conversation along the lines of
Hello from Melbourne
I am not a dealer and I'm not after pricing
I would like a part number and whether you have it in stock so I can ring my dealer after getting off the phone with you to make the order through them.

I was able to get waht I wanted but it took some further talking after that.

Well all i can say is that if you contact Beretta australia, by phone, email or even snail mail, you will get a personalised reply regardless.
I work for Beretta aust. and deal with the end user (customer)every single day through mostly phone and email.

As we are strictly wholesale we cannot quote retail prices, however we are happy to answer any questions relating to our products.

Goodonya. I try not to annoy distrubitors, but sometimes it's easier than dealing with some retailers. One would think many customers a pain, but the goodwill should outway the cost one would think. Just look at the customer help the Yanks get from Leoupold Ruger CZ ect.

Yet if I ever knowingly buy something through Highland I can get similar somewhere else, guess what.

But, anyway what's the big secret about retail price? surely that is what the customer needs to know. Heck, it's even advertised sometimes. (RRP)

Good customer service is great for sales even if there is a middleman in between.

Dugagboybuff and Beretta are certainly good guys.

Gidday Bakes,

Its not a question of preferring the 260 over the 6.5x55, though I do, its the fact that the 260 is a short action round. Now I'm getting a little long in the tooth every ounce that can be shaved off is appreciated.

I get the same performance as a swede in a smaller more efficient case.

To be honest if there was no 260 I would definitely be a swede man.

Getting old is a bitch but it sure beats the alternative.

Hows the long service leave going mate.

Happy Hunting

Hamish

Long service is going GREAT! My mate came around the other day and wired up the nav lights and bait pump to the boat and as soon as I get back from Queensland (leaving today) I'll be hitting the water. Havn't done any shooting as yet but I have all that planned for after the QLD trip.

Vic arms/Parrabellum here in vic bring in Anschutz. They operate as 2 separate companies, Vic arms retail and Parrabellum wholesale.

I bought an old Anschutz target air rifle a while ago and was wanting to get a part list, while some part diagrams are on the Anschutz web site the one I wanted wasn't. I emailed Anschutz direct, they asked my mailing address and sent a photocopy of the parts list & diagram. Hows that for service I even told them I bought it secondhand.

hamish, the sako 85 finnlight will be available in .260 rem. You may need to contact Beretta NZ for more info.

Nitrox, thanks for thekind words!

Jal, we dont provide rrp on most product because most gun shops sell at different prices and it puts some dealer's noses out of joint if We recommend a price??? go figure.
