Yo ! My wife and I (and a chap from New Zealand) will be in the Northern Territory (Muckadilla Safaris) on a buffalo hunt starting about the 18th .. It is a tent camp something like 900 km south east of Darwin. (On the beach) For the folks that live in Northern Australia and/or have hunted there .. Smiler is there any last minute advice that might help a chap from the Great White North.? Confused I do know that it will be hot during the day .. hopefully cooling off a bit at night with the sea breezes .. it is a dry area so no one will confuse my normal dumb stupor with a drunken one .. and that I shall have a total blast !!! Looks like I won't be able to bring my 416 as I am transitting through the U.S. airport in L.A. so shall borrow a rifle from my partner ... Thanks, amigos !

While the sea might look very inviting for a swim on a hot day, the 'snappers' like fresh 'Canuck'.

Have fun.

I wonder if I would taste like chicken ? Confused Actually, if any salties are reading this .. smug with their protection ... everyone .. someday .. has to make their last stand .. mgun mgun The suckers might have a primitive nervous system .. but I suspect 375 sized bullet holes and salt water .. that has gotta sting !!!

As I've told James you will need a gunbearer.
I'm ready to go.

Please send the tickets. Wink

I think I can speak for most, if not all of us, in wishing you have a great time and we look forward to hearing how you fair.

Good Luck. thumb

Scruffy, I had a great time at the beginning of june hunting buffalo in the NT. I hope you have a great hunt. Its to bad you can't take your own gun, but you will have a great time regardless. Be sure to carry some good boots some sun screen and a good camera. Good luck!

Don't forget the INSECT REPELENT, it's good for mossi's and sandflies but the march flies will ignore it and fang you anyways. Smiler good luck on your hunt and we expect a full report with photographic evidence.

I'm jealous. I was up in NT last year (and 2003) and had a wonderful time on both trips. It won't be hugely hot during the days (high twenties), and the nights should be very pleasant. The mosquitoes won't be though.

What flight/date are you taking ex LA?

Have fun,I'm sure you will.Large straw hat, sunscreen and a good insect repelent.Long sleeve light cotton shirts. The sun can be harsh over here.

Hope you'll get some fishing in,some of the best Australia has to offer up that way.

jb747 ... we are flying out of L.A. on the evening of the 15th .. to Brisbane .. and then on to Darwin. Looks like we might have trouble getting a hotel room for the night of the 17th. Some kind of school holiday ?? Confused At the best of times I look like a street person (hard life .. poor genetics ... Frowner) but I doubt if my lovely lady will be impressed so I shall continue searching for a hotel room that will take my money .. Good advice on the hat and repellent.. thumb

In Brisbane we just change airplanes and fly off to Darwin ... get there at noon and proceed to a hotel that we booked downtown... This is the 17th .. on the 18th we fly out about 7:30 a.m. to the Hart River area ..(Where ever that might be ... ?? East Arnhemland) If any AR members live in or around Darwin, my wife Margaret and I would love to meet you and perhaps have a coke or beer ... Bakes, I'll send you a PM ... wave
