Risking the eyre of many, I went ahead and bought a case of 500 rounds of .22-250 ammo for $240-00. I thought that if the ammo was lousy in accuracy, I could still use the brass.

I was surprised today when I got a couple of groups around 1 MOA. All five shot groups.

The barrel wasw really dirty after about 30 rounds. A good dose of Sweets fixed that. Fired off about 120 rounds all up this afternoon and evening. I think it too cold for spotlighting at present.

110 were at targets. But the others were on live "game". A local cockie asked me to shoot some of his mob of corellas if I could. Hundreds of them in mobs and stuffing up the sown grain.

I actually hit one at just over 220 long paces so I was happy. Back into them again tomorrow. I got a few other at far less of a range.

They are so thick here it is unbelievable. Mobs (flocks?) of hundreds. But its still damn dry so most farmers aren't full bore at sowing yet.

Its got to rain soon...... boohoo

I bought a couple of hundred in 7x57R, for the same reasons as GBB, ie brass even if the accuracy was no good.
I was suprised to discover <1 MOA groups out of my BBF, but VERY dirty (powder and copper fouling) to the point where accuracy would drop off after only 15 shots. Mind you, 15 shots is about 12 more than I would shoot at game on any hunt, at least from the rifle BBL.
And at $22 per box, it is way less than RWS want just for the brass!
The projectiles do the job on Fallow OK, so far no Sambar, but here's hoping!

Cheers, Dave.

My one and only trial of Highland centrefire has been a failure: a pack of .243 that won't reliably chamber in my 1998 Remington 700. Not sure if it's brass length or bullet seating at fault.
