I grew up on a dairy farm in Minnesota, USA. I saw the fence in the upper left of the 4th photo and thought fencing must be a challenge! How does one get equipment around hills like that? One has to follow the fence around the property checking and fixing it. The country in the photos are beautiful!

Nelsonted , that was some of the easier country. Most of the fencing materials would have been packed in on horseback , at least up the steeper bits . Nowadays they would probably fly the materials into the real steep bits with a helicopter , but would have used a tractor and trailer to get them onto the site to begin with . New Zealand farmers dont ride fences like your guys do , thats pretty obvious on that place anyway , and fence repairs are done on an as required basis , mainly due to the ground slipping from under the fence. This place hasnt had any maintainance on fences for about fifteen years and it is showing .On those hills you dig the holes by hand or with a borer , too steep for post drivers...

Just from the pictures shown, it appears NZ actually has more surface area than OZ, it is just that you cannot stand upright on most of it. Don
