As with my similar thread on OZ in Nov.

Any nice hunting in NZ in Nov? I realize it's late, but may not be quite so hot as Oz! Smiler

Again, not necessarily looking for a "Dude Hunt" with all the bells and whistles. Would be happy with hunting like the locals and seeing the country. Time frame is fixed, but duration is selectable.

Well if you're in NZ in Nov. Give me a bell, should be able to jack up a pig hunt or two.
Stags have lost their antlers, Thar are a good choice, the bulls are down low, but minus their long coats, Chamois are always on but again their coats look a bit scabby.

Thanks for the offer and info. As time gets closer I'll get serious with a bunch of questions.

I am around at that time I have 14-21 days allocated to hunting that month. For 14 of them I will be a DoC hut warden in the middle of tahr and chamois country on the west coast. I stay in one hut and keep an eye on 2 other huts and the people in the valley. If you are interested I will be happy to put you onto a few animals or even hunt with you as my hut duties are very little, mostly checking tracks. The hut is a busy hut its more of a volunteer thing I do but if you have the ability to walk in to the hut I can definitely help you out.

3rd week ov Nov is the frenzy time for locals in the North Island to try and fill the freezer. Spring growth is in full flush as the deer move around a lot in feeding up - pregnant hinds and stags getting ready for the rut.

This is the time to get yearlings / spikers as the hinds have kicked then out, getting ready to drop their fawns.

If you are in the South Island, it is also great fun to shoot hares in the river beds.

Do whatever you want to the toilets I wont be paying them much attention, too busy hunting. Mid to end November. When I get off here end of the month I will go over to the coast and sort something out I have a bunch of places to visit next month I found from March this year. Basic plan is hunt from Sept to Feb next year.

Sounds very interesting, Weathered, I'll be in touch. When my travel dates firm up I'll send out some PMs.

I have to say that NZ weather sounds a bit more comfortable than Oz at that time! Smiler

You are welcome just leave me time to reply, I will return to NZ in 14 days time and intend to hunt continuously till March next year. The area I will manage has things like this on the trails.
