Yo!

Got about 5 more days before I start the first of 5 flights to get to buffalo country. One final question .. What size are the cows relative to the bulls? .. Both horn wise and body .. In Africa we mostly hunted dugga boys ... in Uruguay .. a different type of water buffalo obviously .. the great herd bulls were substantially larger Eeker .. Heck, they were much larger than the 'little' 5 or 6 year old bulls it appeared ...(Limited experience on both)I promise after this .. no more questions .. I will be the dude with answers in a couple of weeks when we get back .. Roll Eyes cheers

You will need, minimum, 375 H&H , better double in 416 or above. Australian made Woodleigh bullets have specifically designed for these huge animals.

Good Luck and make sure you have a few shooters in your party for back up shots.

Scruffy ,
Buffalo cows can have horns as wide as a bull but generally they aren't as large in diameter . Can still be a good trophy .
The cows are still pretty large but noticeably lighter built than bulls . Probably in the same ballpark as a hereford cow for weight .
Curious too .

The hunting imperative was part of every man's soul; some denied or suppressed it, others diverted it into less blatantly violent avenues of expression, wielding clubs on the golf course or racquets on the court, substituting a little white ball for the prey of flesh and blood.

Cows are considerably smaller than the mature bulls. You will see the difference.

My 9.3mm killed the cows and younger bulls very well, with usually two shots to the heart and lungs. Bulls even with a .450 seemed to last considerably longer and were more vigorous in their attempts to get back up.

How hard to you rate feral bulls ( Brahman cross etc) to put down.

The advantage, from a shooter's perspective is that they, unlike Aust buffalo, are thin skinned.
