I'm pondering a .50-90 rolling block. Somewhere in the back of my head is a nagging notion I've read there's a serious move to ban 50 caliber and above in Australia, the country where I'll be living starting in November. Maybe the ban is aimed at the .50 BMG, but bureaucrats have a way of banning everything they can with each new law. Regardless, what's the story? Tell me this is just a hiccup in my aging memory circuits. ------------------------------------------------------------ Glad to see my circuits aren't so bad as I feared, but I should have done a Search here first. I see this topic was tossed around a few weeks back right here. Seems the old Big 50 is still legal.

BAW is correct. But yes there is a chance of new bans coming in for bigbores. Not specifically but it is inevitable they will get all guns here- more just a matter of time and which types will go first. Things are speeding up greatly here in Australia. Every time the news is on there is another whammy. The latest that spring to mind are -Registration and licencing of Crossbows bows and blades, banning hunting with ~, and banning totally some 'extra-dangerous types' of the above. -Smoking is going to be banned from any public area including beaches and various other ramifications. -The goverment was making noises about working through retirement age. -'dangerous' swimming holes(where people have drowned at some stage-in other words anywhere) are beginning to be roped off around the country for our own 'safety' and heavy fines are imposed for trespassing. ummm....What else springs to mind? They are pushing to have 4x4's as an extra car licence type with safety courses before you can buy one-like guns basically. -Water Authorities can now board you boat at sea to make sure you have the minimum safety gear aboard or you can lose your boat. -They are trying to ban free diving next since too many people apparently die trying to go too deep. -New laws are afoot to limit the size and power of all vehicles including automatic confiscation laws even for having too large a stereo installed in your car. And the new liquor act in my state so far means a 'drinking inspector' can be summoned at any stage and slap you with a $1875 on the spot fine for excessive inebriation. These are just random ones-I could go on about the things just in the last year or two. Like I said the hammer has fallen and Australians are broken. So I hope you bring some attitude here with you asdf. Karl.
