Yes, it is terrible. Would have been terrifying for the last couple few seconds, too. But, compared with the various other terrible deaths that have come to our notice lately, at least he got to 68 and was out there hunting to the last.

Interesting to see if the Vic .Ambulance crew followed trained procedure. or maybe they employed only a basic strop harness [Ive never trusted them.] If the patient is on the ground with only a broken ankle, I would not be too hard for paramedic to fit harness like, ...This. In another incident, A paramedic was killed when an Air rescue crew did something not in the training/procedure book. http://www.atsb.gov.au/publica...air/ao-2011-166.aspx

Trax I was saying to my GF the other day that I don't like strops. I haven't used one but have seen them but I prefer a harness round and between the legs like your second one. Regardless of how heavy you are they will hold you, even if it does cut off a bit of circulation !!! Previously 500N with many thousands of posts !

If he lifted his arms UP as he got to the door to grab on, that would be close to 110kgs below the strop. I think they might never know 100% why he fell out. Very sad. Previously 500N with many thousands of posts !

I reason that The harness type and/or procedure used by the crew was flawed/inadequate. - They failed to properly secure him-dropped him..>> fu*ked-Up..bigTime!

Not sure how this lot do it but this is how I thought a strop was used. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xyPA...G8E/s320/TOGGLE2.png And why I prefer a harness that goes through legs. Previously 500N with many thousands of posts !
