They have just gotten around to putting this rifle on the national catalog here so now it's availiable. Has anyone had a play with one?
The description on the national catalog page lists it as a falling block. That's not correct is it? I couldn't find out much from the Baikal site but it doesn't look like any falling block to me.
Though it is, ugly. Is it cheap at least?
If it's cheap could ba a great outback pig and possibly buff gun.
Has anyone looked into the possibility of boring it out to 45.-90-110-120?

Here in Canada they are bringing in a bunch of Baikal guns. The # 1 in demand is the SxS 45/70 double. Everyone seems to want one so bad they are drooling. (Including myself). However the Russians have decided to send (mostly unwanted) ConfusedO/U 30/06 ones and the 45/70's are no where in sight. It is driving the poor distributor nuts.

Express,

The one I have seen only weighed 7 1/2 lbs. At that weight, hot 45-70s will be all most folks will want. It is about a 20ga frame size, so it is not very big. If you want to have a double 45-70 to punch out to 45-120 or 450NE, get the Pederazoli hammered breachl loader (MK4?) Kodiak. This will weigh 10 1/2lbs and this convertion has been done quite a few times with good reports.

They seem to appear more in catalogues than in the "flesh" (steel).

Lots of talk but no delivery.

Nitro,

The one I saw was in the Remington booth, at the NRA show in Houston, back in April. I am pretty sure it was the same one they had at the SHOT SHOW. Probably to only one in captivity. roflmao

The odds of "cats" having a Spartan SxS, are about as good as OZ becoming the 51st state, of the US. sofa

Lets give this 51st state thing a try Hog Killer ,driving on the wrong side of the road with a right hand drive vehicle would be a bit of a bugger but I could get used to it. Smiler
