I just found this picture of a guy from Bakersfield. California (where I am) with his Stag taken near Queensland Queenstown NZ.

How big is this?

A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"

Reminds me of a 26 pointer a mate shot - US mate.

I told him it looked more like a hat rack
than a red deer - which he understood.

Also have a mate who has a fenced farm
and next door the guy breeds Red solely
for the US market at $10,000 a pop, does
about 10 - 12 hunts a year.

This is the type of 'trophy" that forum fights start over.

As long as the shooter is fully aware that the animal is not wild , but farm raised for the trophy market, then I dont have an issue - but how many of these overseas shooters are told that their deer was chased into that big fenced paddock yesterday , ready for todays "hunt".

I am very happy for the guy shown , I hope he has many great memories of his trip to NZ.

Not to take away that it's bigger than any deer I've taken, but to stress the obvious, the photography is set up to make it look bigger.

Notice the foreshortening, plus the hunter is sitting pretty far back. The Stag's rear legs look way too small for the head.

So the photographer has crawled in close with a short focal length lens.

Still pretty big.

I don't have a problem with them, hell, if one
got onto my mates block I'd shoot it even
if it was from the fenced paddock next door.

I agree though, how many are told where it
has been.

Good luck to him and the operators in NZ.

My first question to my daughter who sent me the picture was; "What farm was it shot on?"

Because it has so many odd points and length on the beam points, I was wondering how you would measure it.

We do not use a measuring tape to measure those kinds of animals. We measure them by the strands of wire used!

That looks like a 24 strand, 10 foot wire fence stag that is beeing successed by his great grand son in the artificial insemination gene pool! Wink
