Well this is my contribution......
Got up a sparrow fart (that's early)grabbed the 222 and a pocket full of brass, threw it all in the car and dashed over the to the property, about a 5 min run.
A glorious South Australian spring moring in the Barossa Valley not a cloud in the sky and most people still tucked up in the sack.
Parked the car, loaded the rifle, walked 50 yards and sat down under a tree. I blew my Johnny Stewart predator call 2 or 3 times and immediately a fox started running full tilt towards me from about 300 yards away, I couldn't believe it, talk about instant response! So within about a minute and a half of closing the car door I was lining up on a young fox about 80 yards out.
Relax, relax dude.....boom....a 35gr Hornady on its way....clean miss.....bugger! The Fox hits top gear and gets the hell out of there.
Oh well the morning was over after a quick walk around and I was home drinking coffee within half an hour.
Quickest damn hunting trip I ever had!

Cheers

Well at least you are close to the hunting.I have to drive about 2 1/2 hours.Half your luck.
Hoiw do the 35grs go in your .222 on foxes when they conect? as I would not mind trying them in my Tikka m55.

Mate, those things are just dynamite on small game and are as accurate as.
I'm getting just shy of 3500fps out of my little A1 Sako using 25grns of AR2207. Just fill the case up and squeeze 'em in.
Waaay superior to those stubby 40gr HP 22 Mag projectiles eveyone seems to use.
Try them, you'll like them. Loading data is hard to find so it's just a matter of cooking something up yourself. Those M55 Tikka's are pretty sturdy, you should have no trouble getting that little pill really sizzling along.

I am getting ready to look for a rusa or a sambar for a visiting hunter down the South-East for three days.

The season makes it hard but we still have a chance.

As for Barossa game, I am getting really annoyed at the 2 to 5 rabbits around the house I see when I drive in at night and the dog is even more annoyed about it. Next week serious mayhem and death will occur with the use of a spotlight.

I gave this "veggie patch raiding" Hare a lead injection on Sat. night.
Classic shoulder shot, took out both lungs just clipped the left ventricle.
Recovered the slug from under the off side skin, fell at my feet while skinning it.
