Sad to hear. I started reading his book when I was 11. He's the reason I developed an interest in hunting. https://www.theguardian.com/bo...r-smith-dies-aged-88 ------------------------------ A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"

Sad indeed! I enjoyed his earlier books. His latest ones were a bit silly. It was Capstick who sent me to Africa! I just HAD to hunt buffalo! He owes me lots of money he does! A shame he is dead, or I would have dragged him along, to make sure he suffers too. Drunk or not!

A friend and I were just discussing him Thursday evening in Texas and then I saw last night that he had died. No doubt his earlier books were the best. His latter ones were becoming rather blase - like a recent Clive Cussler , predictable and not very captivating. But he wrote many good books and gave Africa to the world. Rest in Peace sir. ________________________ Old enough to know better

Sad to hear. I have read most of his books and agree the earlier books were excellent.

. A great writer. Read and enjoyed all his earlier books but like many, not so much his later books. The first trilogy was classic and many great reads followed. . "Up the ladders and down the snakes!"
