I saw a post from her in the African forum and posted the same sorted question as you in big game. She must still be hunting.

I know this is off topic for this forum, but I know that Ann likes to hang out here....

I want to know how she fared on her Canadian moose and bear hunt...

Has anyone here heard from her..?? I hope she killed a big old stinky bull moose and a nice shiny pelted black bear...

Hi Guys,

I am just back, back to work too. I am swamped with mundane things like laundry etc and getting ready for the deer season opener here in Michigan which is Friday, Oct 1. My pricing for Africa is rolling in for 2005 and I am busting a gut trying to get it all organized. Once hunting starts here I tend to get somewhat distracted.

No moose but I had a super great time. It was so nice to be amongst real people. New Brunswick is full of some real down-to-earth folks. It's very beautiful too. Might be a place to retire to someday. There is still plenty of room there to walk unimpeeded for miles in the woods, unlike here, where I live.

Lots of great fishing, hunting and space to ride your ATV's.

Sounds like some of you missed me? Well, never fear, I am back but I did have a close encounter with a black bear I almost did not live to tell about.

Bakesly, have you killed any spotty ones again for me lately? I plan on working a lot of overtime to try and make it down under your way for 2005 waterbuffs.

Pygmy, you know I saw some really great moose bulls killed by some other, more luckier hunters than I. The smell of these bulls really reminded me of old stink bull giraffes!

Ann... Glad to hear from you....Sorry you didn't tag a bull, but you obviously had a good hunt despite that...
I agree on your assessment of the New Brunswick folks...Good, down to earth people that LOVE to have a good time..My hangover opening morning after visiting a bunch of hunting camps the night before would attest to that...I also was surprised to find that the country where I hunted was very similar to my home here in the Apallachian foothils in rural upstate NY...

I was lucky and got a bull the first morning of the hunt...

The shot was long, I had nothing to rest on and I was suffering from the previous evening's celebration...

After missing him broadside three times he finally decided to leave the premises and I got lucky and delivered a true Texas heart shot..The 250 grain Barnes X bullet from my 9.3 x 62 hit him at the root of his tail, right between the hams and broke him down on the spot..All I had to do was toddle up and finish him.. Never let it be said that I can't hit a BULL in the ASS.... .... It wasn't pretty, but he's in the freezer now..

He was young bull, with five points, most likely a two year old...The meat just melts in your mouth...

Hey! Lucky you and GREAT shooting.

I will try and draw again. Wonder how long that will take???? Yep, I too had many nightly parties, the down home hospitality was awesome. They also await my return.

Enjoy your moose meat, I hear it is fantastic!

Ann...Well, unless lots more nonresidents apply or the number of tags is cut, your odds of drawing should be about 1 in 12 again... That's better than anywhere in ths states other than Alaska, where they are OTC...Who knows...?? You could draw again next year..

I have a <<LUCKY>> friend who has drawn two NB moose tags in six years... I'm one for six myself, but will be applying again next year..
