Hey all, I am in the USA and I hunt sika deer here in Maryland, where there is a wild population. While reading a book on sikas and other NZ game it often mentioned the douglas scoring method. Can someone elaborate to me what this is? We use Boone and crocket over here, (and pope and young for bow kills), and I know about the SCI scoring, but had not previously heard of the douglas scoring method. Thanks!

hi luke, the douglas score method is used for game in the south pacific. the system works by having a symetrical score. For example: each antler on a deers head is measured in inches, its opposite antler is also measured.the sore is double the lesser amount plus width of antler and also spread and girth, some penalies apply for overspread. i dont think i have explained it very well, but basically the system is based on eveness along with size. It sounds complicated, but in fact it is a system that most game is judge on in australia and N.Z.
