Getting guns in is not a problem, especially if you get the paperwork ahead of time and FAX or email it with all the needed support docs to the police office in whatever airport you'll clear customs. My partner and I did this. So when we arrived at the Auckland airport, the officer in charge already had our permits signed and stamped. After he checked the SNs, we paid the $25 NZ and went on our way through customs. Took all of 10 minutes. -TONY

Thanks Tony. I did a search and looked at you photos, very nice. I saw that you used a .264wm, where the shots long? I was thinking of using a 300wsm with 180gr barnes xts? Also didn't you post a hunting report? I looked but didn't find one other than the photos. How was the plane flight?

Thanks Tony. As to the bullet weight, in a 30 caliber I like heavy bullets. We leave the 3rd of October for South Africa and I've got some 200gr XTS load for that trip. Shots should be 150 yards or less and the 200s should work great for Zebra and Wildebeest.

I used a .300 WM with a 180 gr. Bear Claw in a factory load from Federal on my zebra. Shot it at about 140 yards right where all the stripes converge at the top of a front leg. It ran 40 yards, did a leap of about 5 feet off the ground and turned clear over on its back before hitting the ground dead. But the 140-gr. Win. PPs from my .264 did the trick on both a blue and black wildebeest, as it did on the other 8 critters. Neither beestie knew what hit it. Have a good trip to Africa! -TONY
