I always find summer slow as it is too hot for hunting, so it is time to start preparing for 2005. My first task was to refinish the stock on my Ruger 77 in 30.06. Firstly I stripped off the old finish then used marine spar varnish on the inletting followed by Laurel Mountain sealer and finisher. The finished product was a bit shinier than I would have liked but hopefully will be relatively weatherproof. When I reassembled the rifle I used some B-Sqare allen head action screws but at Little River today found they are too long and jammed the bolt! Back to the original screws. Also mounted a new Nikon Monarch Gold 1.5X6 , it certainly is large after the 2X7. Mark | ||
