Yes, I realise that they have a tang mounted safety which, in my opinion, is utterly ridiculous (and ugly) on a hammer gun with a half-cock, but I really don't like the idea of shooting an original rifle a lot - and I plan on shooting this rifle a great deal.

Also, I really want to fit up one of the new copies of the original Lyman Receiver Sights (or an original sight if I can find one) but to fit these sights requires drilling and tapping and there is NO WAY I will have an original rifle drilled and tapped.

Thanks for the info, but I am still going to sell the original and buy a new one (unless I win lotto and then I'll keep the original rifle, as well!).
