And your point was that Dr Wamsley wearing a cat skin for a hat showed that all people with a doctorate were devoid of common sense.

You have made no case for the validity of your statement at all, but have tried instead to deflect the discussion onto something to do with shooters safety.

Pretty boring really.

Karl, I hope we can ague with out getting into
personal insults.
You think that maybe that if the good Doctor was
walking along a 4foot 6inches deep gully, that
may make a difference.

Yes it would ruin the publicity photograph totally.

Idiot.

However I reiterate it was probably outside of 5' tall two legged cat season.
Which would be as dangerous as hunting pigs wearing a hat.

Now we have cleared up any difficulties some may be having reading their own posts, I might leave you and the estemable Jindy driver,(who obviously have similar knowledge base on this gentleman) to continue uninterrupted on the subject Wink

Karl, you know, if you want to see how NORMAL
people conduct a discussion on a controversial
subject, I posted on Rec.hunting a quiry called
"Shooting cats in the USA on Dec 18, so far
there has been 37 answers.
None were abusive to anyone, none went off their
brain, none mentioned something happening in their pants when they shot a cat. Read it and
weap.
You know some of you people here nit pick around the edges, brag if you shoot a cat, which
usually just sit and look at you like a rabbit.
I really must check out the African sections
here where they may have something to brag about
but as someone just said, Booring. It's a damn
shame the Australian section is like this, check
out any other area/board, and tell me some of you here are not juvenile sickos.

Now if you want to wear a Davy Crocket hat(town
or country) good for you. But I think the word
would get around that you wern't quite the full
quid.
Now I know the Dr. was doing a publicity stunt,
but I wouldn't be suprised if he didn't get more
of the general public off side rather than educated.

You miss the point but recognise it.

If he didn't make use of a stunt, he would just be another dickhead mouthing off to himself with no one listening.

But using a stunt he got on the front page of newspapers. And started a debate.

No, my opinion is he didn't put the general public offside as most forget what they did the day before anyway, and a week is an eternity.

You are unable to make your point clear, and you are unable to make any argument to support your position, so you resort to name calling (and yelling).

When it comes to displays of juvenile behaviour on BB’s, that pretty much defines it.

Bakes where are you ?
People are getting all out of shape here over what started as a light hearted discussion .
Have a beer and chill out guys . Smiler Bugger me , the hat's just a publicity stunt that worked !

The hunting imperative was part of every man's soul; some denied or suppressed it, others diverted it into less blatantly violent avenues of expression, wielding clubs on the golf course or racquets on the court, substituting a little white ball for the prey of flesh and blood.

Guys, FWIW, I've had the pleasure (?) of working with an 'Animal Rights Activist' who's also a supporter of PETA over the last couple of days.

He doesn't know I hunt, and Im not about to tell him - even if I COULD get a word in edgewise... he's worse than my ex, and I'm sure he would give the most fanatical, fundamentalist religious person a run for their money when it comes to being one eyed... even pointing out the fact that his neck thingy was made of leather didn't dampen his fervour...in fact he became abusive!!...

Kinda like JAL...

Bakes, I tried the "...is there a contradiction in that you wear leather..." approach...

Him...(get this  ) "Yes, but it's only a small part of the animal..."

Me... "yeah, but in order to obtain that 'small part', the animal had to die, which contradicts your position..."

Him... "Yes, but the animal would have to die at some stage... it's part of life..."

I gave up at that point and changed the subject.

Sounds like he wouldn't have much of a problem justifying to himself any position on any topic.
Just wait till you try to explain your position to guys like that, they aren't likely to give you the wriggle room they would expect for themselves. Roll Eyes
