I've always wondered if the flip-up peep sight is mounted on the stock, how does it keep its zero?

Nice looking rifle.

The tang sight is mounted on the tang,a piece of metal extending down the stock from the receiver. Wink

Chuck,

BAW,has quite a few American style firearms. He also has very good taste, shown by the guns he chooses to own. He also has some very nice Martinis.

BAW, very nice 1874 thumb Now, go get ya a buff or even a camel.

I've seen them mounted on the actual stock and could never understand how that could work. If mounted on a tang I fully understand it and the only way to go.

Second question. How do you shoot a heavy recoiling rifle where the flip-up sight is on the grip? I guess you have to gingerly grasp th grip with a less than full hold?

Again that is a classy looking Sharps and .50 a great calibre.

That's exactly what i need. I want two, one in 40/65 or 40/70 and one in 45/90.They are amongst the best rifles ever built.

Gentlemen,
If anyone had said that 7 years ago I would be hooked on blackpowder cartridge rifles I would have said they had rocks in their head.

Today I got eight of them, and they shoot well

That is 8 rounds at 100m with peep sights, 64gn FFG black and a 520gn cast lead projectile

I have calibres 38/55, 40/65, 45/70, 45/120, 50/70, 577/450 and soon 45/90 & 50/90

One last try. Is BAW still around. I am genuinely interested in what sort of ranges these things can be shot at.

Hunting, target shooting, whatever?

Personal experience sought.
