I'll be on the South Island for a little over two weeks in mid April. The first week will suck up most of my budget hunting reds. The second week is open to interesting possibilities. I thought I had a Thar and Chami hunt lined up for that second week, but that fell through. I wont be totally broke, but I cant pay huge guide and trophy fees that second week. I'm really interested in fallow deer too. Any input from some of you with more experience than I is most welcome. Thank you, Steve

Go to Fox and have James Scott fly you in. It will cost between $250 to ??? depending upon the distance. It is the end of the season and maybe you could hook up with one of his mountian guides who likes to hunt and pay his helicopter charter fee and leave him a good tip. Before warned the weather in the NZ Southern Alps at that time of year can be very bad. I am thinking about doing it again this year. PM if you like.
