My local dealer has informed me of potential new legislation regarding the banning of both military calibered rifles & those rifles of calibres above .30 cal.

I was instantly sickened to hear of this, can anyone shed any light on these outrageous claims ?

Or are they just simply rumours from within the somewhat paranoid minority ?

My local dealer & friend assures me his sources are reliable & accurate. This is really getting to the point of being ridiculous, what reason is behind this further erosion of our rights ?

I was told the same thing by a dealer six months ago, but never heard of it again.

We've heard these rumours before. There are quite a few doomsayers out there who seem to delight in scaring the rest of us.

To be fair, some of these rumours are based upon 'proposals' from the anti-gunners, but often that is all they are and there is no real danger of these rumours becoming truth.

We need to stay alert and ready to fight any real moves to further restrict our sport but let's not panic everytime one of these rumours surfaces.

So, that said, has anyone heard anything factual about this rumour?

Daniel,

As far as I know it was at a national level, but I`m not 100% sure.

Either way it wouldn`t surprise me who is proposing it.
Typically after the recent news stories on terrorist training camps in our outback. One does begin to wonder on how much truth is behind these stories.
Not that we should be complacent toward these types, but it does seem rather convenient for the anti gunners to rev up the population into calling for further restrictions on firearms given these recent events.

Just my thoughts anyway, no political affiliations with either side.
