I'm getting ready to book a trip to hunt New Zealand in April of 2009. I have it narrowed down to two outfitters, Leithen Valley Trophy Hunts (Alan and Sue Stewart) and Kiwi Safaris (Mike Freeman). Have any of you guys hunted with either outfitter? Both are on the south island and the cost is practically the same. At this point I am leaning towards Leithen Valley as I like that they are a family run operation, but that has changed daily and I need to $hit or get off the pot. Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

I'm not really in the right position to answer your guestion as I'm an outfitter down here as well.
I'd suggest you check references on both and ask yourself exactly what you want from the hunt and which of the operates can best deliver that to you.
Also check out the Hunting report.com and you'll find a lot of info on NZ outfitters there.
If your a bowhunters as your handle suggests them go to the Bowsite .com and see where that leads you.
Good luck, you'll have a great time down here.
I know both the outfitters you are looking at.

Highlander pretty tough position to be in, trying to help out without influencing the person unduly. I think that you handled it very well.

It depends on the type of hunt you want. Heres a good FREE RANGE red, taken with South Pacific hunters. Let me know if would like to talk to David about his hunts. I could not have been any happier.

Thanks guys. I have read several good referances for each outfitter, but was hoping someone here at AR had some first hand knowledge. I have decided on Alan Stewart of Leithen Valley. I like the fact that they are a family operation much like my business. Although my "handle" may suggest differently, I will be using a rifle for this trip.

Thanks,

Mike

BTW- Nice stag skb!!
