Question for the sambar hunters.

Do you guys go for all that "deer managment" type stuff ie, shoot the hinds as well, or do you only go after the stags? Do you think it makes a difference if you only hunt the stags?

I have and will shoot them from calf size to bull size..depends where they are in relation to your vehicle..hinds for meat are always an option if the track is close by.

top photo, hope that one finds a bit of wall space.
im getting more selective with what i shoot, usually get a hind early in the season so there is venison in the freezer , and then chase the big timber

I haven't shot a sambar yet but have been on two trips, have seen a few and was right there when a mate shot a stag (helped pack him out). I'm definitely happy to shoot a hind, I'd rather a meat animal than a trophy though if the trophy presents itself I will take it.

Not enough experience to know firsthand if QDM makes a difference but the theory makes sense to me.
