I think he means immigration laws concerning age limits.

Many countries limit people by age from immigrating because they don't want hordes of retirees that don't bring any skills in to the country and instead live off of the free medical care/dole.

Some countries don't allow unaccompanied persons under a certain age because they also could bring no usefull skills to the country and just raise the unskilled unemployment rates.

No requirements, not even proof of identity, if you land and make a refugee claim.
You will have eligibility for all government aid and by the time they decide you are not a bona fida refugee, you will have either disappeared or died. Big Grin

I think you should visit the Aussie govt immigration website for specific details. Cant really expect folks on this forum to be experts in immigration matters.

Recently immigration laws in Oz have been relaxed to allow well heeled people to live here for limited periods ( the govt wants ot make sure you have enough money to look after yourself). The govt is concerned about people taking advantage of our welfare system so have been quite tough on who they let in. There is a skills shortage here so if you have something required you might be able to get in without going through too many hoops.

Its a complex area that changes all the time. My advice is check the website for specifics or go to an immigration lawyer. Should be able to find one in the yellow pages.

Good luck.

I just Googled "Australian Immigration Age Limits" and found:

If you want to emigrate to australia, there are maximum age limits set and they vary, depending on which visa you apply for.
For Independent Skilled Visa the age limit is 44 years. For Business Skills applicants, the age limit is much higher. If you are 55 years or older you may wish to consider applying for a Retiree Visa.

Under New Zealand it said:

Is there a maximum age limit for people wanting to apply for immigration?

As the Principal Applicant under the General Skills category you must be aged 55 years or younger while Principal Applicants in the Investor category may be 84 years or younger to apply.

If you have skills that are needed in the country and work experience in those skills you get more "points", which qualify you for immigration.

If you have a lot of money that you will bring with you, you get more points also.

Gidday jjmp,

What Frank said.

Skills or bucks have a big say. What do you do for a crust?

If you are a drug dealer sorry mate there is no skill shortage in that department here.

Can you put one brick on top of another or hook up a gas pipe? If you can they will kiss your feet as you come in.

Check out this site if you want the info. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/

This will tell you all you want to know about moving here. I hope it helps you.

Happy Hunting
