Hello,

Next year my fiancee and I have decided to go to New Caledonia for our honeymoon.

We would like to hunt and fish. Anybody has some recommendations on where to go and what to do ?

Rusa Deer hunting and Game fishing in New Caledonia is a great option .
Hunting the coastal hills and swamps or the inland mountains and glassing big numbers of deer is great.

Get in contact with John Clark's Coralsea Safaris. I understand is has a great reputation for being a decent operator and great guide.

I'd follow up with Jamie bell, I have a feeling that John Clarke has moved on from NC.
More Rusa in NC than you can shake a stick at.
Make sure you check out the rather tricky firearm issues that the French have in NC.
Happy hunting.

i am headed to N.C. on 1 Sept to hunt rusa deer for a week and then spend 10 days fishing and scuba diving. i will be hunting with John Clark and for the remainder of the trip i will be renting a car and free lancing the rest of it. the plan is to head north up the west coast, fly fishing the flats for bonefish G.T.'s, etc, then returning down the east cosat to Noumea. John Clark has not left N.C. and he has rifles you can use for free so no import permit is necessary. will post a hunting report when i return. PM me for more details about car rentals, lodging details, etc.

Shot this with Murray Thomas safaris in 1994. Now it is Jamie Bell safari's, who by the way is a top guide!!
Unfortunately could not take my own rifle over so borrowed Murray's. You guessed it - rifle was shooting 12" to the left and 9" high!!!
Beware of useing borrowed rifles!!
Note this stag had no ears!

Augustin,

I work closely with a very small, personalized operation in N.C. Daniel runs a 5 day hunt for $3800 US. He has a huge area to hunt and it has produced several record class stags over the years. He takes only about 8 hunters per year. He lives in Noumea, has guns you can borrow and is very "client oriented"...he himself being a hunter, he knows what it takes and what one expects.

Let me know if I can assist.

Cheers,

Heading to New Caledonia in October for ten days. Have all paperwork sorted to take my competition pistols, but can you hunt with pistols there? Peter.
