Range finding rifle scopey thingy
Had a shot of my mates .308 (Tikka

) It has a Bushnell range finding mil dot scope etc. Bloody thing is HUGE. Input the caliber and other info into it and it works out the bullet drop and changes the glowey dot to the correct setting. THEN it has a pyramid of mil dots below the cross hairs. Can't say I'm a fan.

SkiBumplus3I will soon be testing the Sig Sauer BDX Kilo 1800 system. The rangefinder uses Bluetooth to give the riflescope yardage to ranged targets. The dot appears in the scope, hold on the target and squeeze the trigger.
The scope is slightly heavier than usual and the rangefinding binos are about the same as similar models.
So far I'm impressed. Have not used the system in an actual hunting situation.

AnotherAZWriterThis scope provides a ballistic solution within 1 MOA out to 800 yards (according to the website). Not good enough for me.
On the other hand, I just ordered a Kilo 2400 ABS rangefinder after reading all kinds of great reviews.

For what reason? I tried the swarovski and was impressed. Though im not a fan of the kind of shooting people use it for, i thought it was definitely a step up on the Bushnell.

larryshoresmy mountain rifle just had the Swarovski mounted on it. I had to send it off to be drilled for bigger screws. There was serious concern that it would shear the screws off. That took two months . It was supposed to take a week.
I am 6 weeks away from a sheep hunt. I know guys that went to the Swarovski training that came back swearing by the thing.
I can't wait to try it.

SkiBumplus3Larryshores,
You put a 38 oz scope on a "mountain" rifle?
I have to ask why someone would buy a sub 6lb rifle and then put a 2 pound brick on top.

larryshoresYup. I believe it is 15 ounces more than the scope that was on it already ( A Swarovski Z-8). The rifle is ultra light, too light actually. I get to leave my range finder at home. I recon the weight difference after considering the range finder is less than 5 ounces. With the weight being on the rifle, I figure it will help me be more accurate.
Perhaps the #1 reason was giving me the place to hold when shooting up or down when the angles are severe. It is something I have a hard time with. I tend to over compensate.
I live in FL. My "mountain" training is the 4th tee box at the country club. I don't have the luxury to get to shoot at any distance or shoot at angles.
I recon I will know soon.

SkiBumplus3Larryshores.
Wishing you the best on your hunt. You are experienced. I trust your decisions for you. Hold slightly low on up and down angles.
