Thanks guys.

I doubt I will shoot any of them.

Even if I release them around here they are likely to move to the neighbours. Secondly we have too many houses around for a walk up rough shoot.

But they do look good now and it is very satisfying to have reached this stage.

I hope I can get them breeding now - first eggs in Sept Oct???

25 weeks old and I released the last pair on my place.

I sold a total of 10 pairs and recovered most of the feed money.

Gave away 2 pairs to some friends & the birds are still hanging around their place after a week.

My place is high and does not have as much cover or water close by.

Let us see.

Good fun experience but too much fiddly work to do it again.

Very nice looking birds.

If end up some place not so tropical next, I'd like to try and raise some. I don't have a big enough place here in Germany.

It is best to feed pheasant poults the right food. Chicken/turkey feed is designed to put body weight on birds for eating.

Pheasants need a good bone/muscle structure.

Yes they also need much more protein.

However chicken layer feed is ok for pheasants as that is designed for exactly the same except for the lower protein.

I have used broiler mash for breeding 1000 Japanese quail!
