I'm looking for help in establishing who are the NZ or Oz agents for Dakota rifles ? I've busted my butt trying to get Dakota to respond after they very quickly replied to my initial enquiry. Now they've gone silent ??. Anyone able to assist ? I'm interested in a left hand 404 J in their new PH model with the synthetic stock. Thanks.

There may be a message in your original difficulty, of course, Ridgeman. A mate has had trouble with a weak mainspring in his Ruger 77; when he finally got an answer from the company they said to send the whole bolt back to America. Because of potential customs nightmares in both countries, he has not sent it and probably will not. Fortunately he is not on safari in Africa.

Thanks gents. Using the enquiry form on their website resulted in a good response and a query as to whether I required contact details of their NZ agent. So I presumed they were geared for export ! Perhaps one of us is a little optimistic! I'll follow up with Deadeye. Thanks again.

If you hear back, ask them how much for the Model 10 as well please? I've always wanted a nice single shot, maybe in 300H&H and the Dakota seems to be very well made

No luck so far but will ask if I hear from them eventually. Perhaps they were all at the Euro show !!!

You probably don't need a local agent, if we can get them to ship to an exporting FFL in the US. Cost would be similar to buying from local agent, but a bit more effort with permits etc

I suffered from a similar issue with a M77 MkII a couple of years ago. I ended up getting some heavier springs from Wolff Springs in the US. I have a couple that I didn't use if your friend is interested.

Mark - thanks, that would be a great help. I have their price but then they went silent so any assistance would be appreciated. I have an Aussie licence so import would be easy enough. Let me know. Cheers.

As Mark R said, contact the Remington agent in which ever country you live in. The reason I say this is, www.remington.com (or who ever owns them these days), now owns Dakota Arms. A possible reason why they stopped responding to your inquiries, is they were relocated from Dakota state, to New York state(?), when Remington purchased the business. Iirc, you can access their web sight, via the above Remington one? Hope that helps Doh! Homer Lick the Lolly Pop of Mediocrity Just Once and You Will Suck For Life!
