I have never shot buff but do own a 9.3x62 and I would be very confident to use the 9.3x62 against water buff with thae appropriate Woodleigh bullet.....................I am unsure wether I would rather the 286 gr protected point or the 320 gr softs for the said game.

Used both (Tikka T3 and Blaser 93) of mine on Sambar, and the Blaser on scrub bulls, pigs and donkeys.
No problems at all.

Cheers, Dave.

I'd have no hesitation in using a 9.3x62 on Buff, especially handloads with the woodleigh 286 gr solid.

My Blaser 9.3x62 has taken a few Cape buffalo, Lion, Hippo, Eland and a assortment of other plains game.
I recommend 286grn and 320grn WOODLIEGH softs and solids and also the 300grn SWIFT A FRAMES.
Great caliber and Bullets.

PS; My Husky 9.3 is coming along as back up on this years Ele and Plains Game hunt.

I shoot 375H&H myself,9.3 is right up there with 375

Another vote for Woodleigh bullets

Drew

I have used a 9.3x74R double rifle with 286 gr Woodleigh Protected Points and a few FMJs on a fair number water buffalo cows and younger bulls on a cull.

If you pick your shots and shoot well, no problems.

A 320 gr Woodleigh should penetrate better as well in the faster 9.3x62mm.

Comparo`s are an integral part of your own forum John.

Meaningless because they lump together all bullet weights, velocities etc etc.

Far more useful to eg compare a 300 gr .375 to a 9.3mm 286 gr, to a .458 500gr etc, than eg to add up and divide a 235 gr .375, a 270 gr and a 300 grs results. One could use a 350 gr .375 or even a 380 gr .375 and all the averages change.

Different bullets and weights and ballistics for quite different purposes.

Therefore my meaningless comment.

What do you get if you 'average' ie mix up blue, yellow, red, green, white and black paint?

Brown everytime. Wink

Isnt that what they have done though John?

BTW John there is also a function that you appeared to miss on that site that one can choose specific bullet weights/loads per cartridge to compare, now that has to have some meaning cobber!

I do see your point though but for non reloaders etc as i am i can do a simple quick comparison..i dont have access to reload manuals etc so it is of help to dummies as me mate.
